With the launch of FPL 25/26, Liverpool assets have quickly become a hot topic among managers looking to maximise value and balance their squads.
Mohamed Salah leads the way once again, but the landscape has shifted with exciting new options and a few pricing surprises that demand attention.
Mohamed Salah (£14.5m – MID) is the most expensive player in the game — £0.5m more than Erling Haaland. He’s been the most consistent FPL performer for years, but this price hike, coupled with a tough start (Newcastle away, Arsenal at home), makes it viable to consider going without him.
It’s a bold move, but the savings can significantly upgrade your squad elsewhere. Salah remains a high-ceiling captain option, but managers now genuinely need to weigh up his inclusion.
Florian Wirtz (£8.5m – MID) arrives as Liverpool’s marquee signing and a potential bargain. Many expected a £9.0m+ price tag, but FPL has opted to keep him slightly underpriced.
He already grabbed two assists in a behind-closed-doors game against Stoke and looks set to be a creative hub. If he adjusts quickly to Premier League intensity, he could offer consistent returns at a cut price.

Liverpool FPL picks: goldmine or gamble?
In defence, Kerkez, Frimpong, and Van Dijk are all priced at £6.0m (DEF). With FPL introducing bonus points for CBITs (Clearances, Blocks, Interceptions, Tackles), defenders who are both secure starters and involved at both ends of the pitch become even more valuable.
Van Dijk’s reliability, Frimpong’s forward runs, and Kerkez’s attacking intent make all three worthy of consideration. A defensive double-up isn’t out of the question.
Further upfield, Luis Diaz (£8.0m – MID) and Cody Gakpo (£7.5m – MID) offer mid-priced midfield options. Diaz has a strong FPL profile but comes with rotation risk.
Gakpo’s reclassification as a midfielder adds appeal, but his minutes depend on both Diaz’s future and team structure under Arne Slot. Until there’s more clarity, both are probably early-season avoids.
Overall, FPL has priced Liverpool assets wisely. Salah tests budget strategy, Wirtz tempts as a high-upside bargain, and the defence could be a goldmine under the new rules.
With competition for Liverpool spots fiercer than ever, pre-season form and minutes will be crucial in guiding those all-important GW1 decisions.
