With the 2024-25 Premier League season underway, the Reds have had a fresh lineup since their pre-season campaign. Now, Diogo Jota has expressed his opinion regarding his position in LFC as arranged by Arne Slot.
Fans are already having mixed feelings about this whole thing right now. But according to his experience, Jota seems quite good in this position for the team.
Diogo Jota would love to be Number 9 as Arne Slot leads Liverpool F.C.
Slot and Michael Edwards are in the most instrumental roles to take LFC to their success. When they first started the training programs under the Dutchman at AXA, the message was loud and clear.
The team played their pre-season matches, and their match against Ipswich Town, we noticed some changes. Arne Slot deployed Diogo Jota in the Number 9 slot of LFC. This new move has attracted a lot of attention from fans and sports enthusiasts alike.
Jota scored the first goal for LFC at the 60th minute. Afterwards, the Merseyside Club had a dominating 2-0 win in their first match. The 27-year-old has been phenomenal in his play in this new position. Still, not all fans of Liverpool did welcome this decision with open hearts.
While Klopp was there, this Portuguese Star was mostly present in the open wide positions. However, Diogo Jota has welcomed Arne Slot and his efforts to assign him a new role under his strategy. The new arrangement seems good despite of taking the position away from Nunez.
“It’s a bit different from Klopp where I maybe was useful out wide. I think here he wants our wingers a lot more in one-v-ones and I think we have better options than myself.
If I stay in the middle and wait for those chances to come in and score them, I think that is what I do the best so you can take that into the season.”
