After the Reds disregarded their prior interest in the Brazilian midfielder the target from Liverpool moves to Wolves in a £21 million deal.
A big move in the transfer market has been made by Wolves with the £21 million signing of Andre a midfielder for Fluminense.
This agreement was reached a year after Liverpool’s unsuccessful attempt to sign the Brazilian international for £25 million.
The Reds were looking for a defensive midfield option and the international was one of their top targets.
Although Andre was heavily pursued by Liverpool in the summer of last year he stayed faithful to Fluminense honoring his commitment to the team despite the lure of a Premier League transfer.
Ultimately Liverpool changed course and signed Wataru Endo opening the door for André to be pursued by other teams.
Liverpool target snatched by Wolves
The 23-year-old has now joined Wolves in the Premier League after Wolves took advantage of this chance.
Andre’s arrival to Wolves is anticipated to greatly strengthen their midfield giving Gary ONeil’s team more depth and experience.
The Brazilian’s arrival for Wolves who are currently near the bottom of the Premier League standings after a difficult start to the season is timely.
André will form a solid core of players with top-tier football experience at Molineux joining fellow Brazilian teammates Joao Gomes and Matheus Cunha.
Andre’s presence in the midfield could give Wolves the stability and inventiveness they need to move up the league standings and accomplish their season objectives as they look to turn around their performance.
