Liverpool Eyeing Next Defensive Superstar: Highly Touted Teen Sensation On Radar For Major Summer Move!

Liverpool are actively seeking the prospect of a summer transfer move for French youngster and Lille defender Leny Yoro.

The summer of 2024 is bringing lots of changes to the Anfield side with the managerial change being the major one. Dutch manager Arne Slot will be taking over the Merseyside reins from Jurgen Klopp.

Another major change will take place in the boardroom as Michael Edwards has already taken over as CEO of football and Richard Hughes is set to join as sporting director.

Klopp’s departure and Slot’s arrival as the head coach of the Reds will see many new players joining the side.

The club has already started working on that matter with several players being linked with potential transfer.

Leny Yoro To Liverpool?

Among all the signings Slot will need to kickstart his Liverpool career, the most wanted is a centre-back, with Joel Matip leaving at the end of the summer.

According to a new report via CaughtOffside, French youngster Leny Yoro has been a candidate the Merseyside club is looking at along with several other clubs.

The 18-year-old has attracted interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle United within PL and Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid across Europe.

This increased demand for the Lille defender could see his price reach a greater number than the reported price tag of €45-50M.

Yoro has already made 36 appearances for Les Dogues under Paulo Fonseca across all competitions averaging 1.1 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.4 aerials won and a 92.1% passing accuracy rate while bagging two goals (stats correct as of 19.05.24) (stats via Whoscored).

The right-footed 190 cm centre-back is capable of playing from the back with his ability to control the game from the back.

Speaking about the French U-21 international, France U-21 national team manager Thierry Henry said,

“What he is doing is extraordinary. Another young player who is having good matches. Warren Zaire-Emery attracts a little more attention by being at PSG, playing in the Champions League, he has just joined the A. But it’s true that Leny is doing a huge job at the moment.”

These supporting statements and statistics are solid proof of the young defender’s ability, calibre and huge prospect.

Will Liverpool land Leny Yoro still remains a question which will be solved once the transfer window commences.
