Luis Diaz has officially joined Bayern Munich, ending a successful spell at Liverpool that spanned over three-and-a-half years (via Liverpool FC).

Liverpool agreed to sell Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich in a deal worth £65.5 million, including add-ons, after initially turning down a lower offer.

Bayern’s first bid, valued around £58.5m (€67m), fell short of the Reds’ expectations.

However, a second proposal totaling £65.5m (€75m) convinced the club to greenlight the move.

Diaz still had two years left on his contract, which strengthened Liverpool’s position in negotiations.

The Reds believe the final fee reflects full market value for the Colombian winger, who also attracted interest from Barcelona before opting for a switch to Vincent Kompany’s Bayern.

Diaz’s Liverpool journey ends after Premier League title season

The Colombian attacker arrived at Anfield from FC Porto in January 2022 and quickly established himself as a key figure in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

A serious knee injury disrupted Diaz’s progress in the 2022-23 season, restricting him to just 21 appearances.

But the Colombian bounced back. He changed shirt numbers to No.7 that summer and gradually returned to top form.

Over the next two campaigns, Diaz played 101 matches, scoring 30 goals and providing 10 assists.

Under new head coach Arne Slot in 2024-25, he was shifted to a more central role and responded with his best-ever season in red.

Diaz netted 17 times across all competitions, 13 of those in the Premier League, including a standout brace at Old Trafford and a Champions League hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen.

His goals helped Liverpool clinch the Premier League title with four games to spare.

As he leaves for Bayern Munich, Diaz’s contribution to the Reds is undeniable, four major trophies, memorable goals and a lasting legacy.

Everyone at Liverpool Football Club wishes him the very best for the future.
