Darwin Nunez’s time at Liverpool may be nearing its end, and the Reds are already lining up possible replacements.
With interest in the Uruguayan forward growing and a potential summer move on the cards, Liverpool are now said to be watching Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike very closely.
Nunez had previously attracted an offer from Saudi side Al Nassr in January, which Liverpool turned down.
However, this summer could be different. The forward is open to exploring new opportunities, and the club is considering all options as they prepare for big changes up front.
Ekitike, who joined Frankfurt from PSG last summer, has had an impressive season. The 22-year-old has scored 21 goals and provided nine assists in 43 matches.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, especially by Liverpool scouts who have reportedly monitored him for some time.

Frankfurt raise Ekitike’s price amid Liverpool interest
Initially valued at around €80 million (£67 million), Frankfurt are now demanding at least €100 million (£85.7 million) for Ekitike, according to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg (via Sky Germany). That fee is just slightly more than the £85.3 million Liverpool paid to sign Nunez in 2022.
With a contract running until 2029, Frankfurt are in no rush to sell. But despite that, they are said to be preparing for Ekitike’s possible departure this summer.
The Frenchman may not have Premier League experience, but his time in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga gives him a strong foundation.
Liverpool’s new boss Arne Slot will need a striker who fits his pressing style — someone who works hard off the ball but also delivers in front of goal.
Speaking on what he expects from his No. 9, Slot said:
“They need to work hard and be part of an intense pressing team… that is also what I’m expecting from our number nine.”
He also added with a chuckle: “But in the end, it is helpful if the number nine… scores goals. That was the short answer.”
Whether Liverpool go all in for Ekitike remains uncertain, but the signs point to a busy summer ahead at Anfield.
With Nunez possibly on his way out, a new face could soon lead the line.
