Liverpool could be set for a financial boost amid fresh developments surrounding Darwin Nunez possible move to Saudi side Al Hilal.
Darwin Nunez arrived at Liverpool in the summer of 2022, signing from Benfica in a deal worth £85 million.
The Uruguayan striker came in as one of the most expensive signings in the club’s history, brought in to spearhead the post-Sadio Mane era under Jurgen Klopp.
Since his arrival, Nunez has made 143 appearances, scoring 40 goals and registering 26 assists across all competitions.
His debut season showed glimpses of explosive pace and unpredictability, while his second year saw more consistent minutes but similar frustrations in front of goal.
Despite contributing to key moments — including late winners and big-game performances — he struggled to fully lock down the No. 9 spot.
Heading into the 2025/26 campaign, there were hopes Nunez would finally settle under Arne Slot. But with Al Hilal pushing for a deal, Liverpool now look set to part ways with the striker.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano breaks down Nunez deal
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Darwin Nunez is set for a “here we go” move to Al Hilal, with only final details of the deal left to be sorted.
He revealed that Liverpool will receive €53 million plus add-ons, with the striker ready to sign a contract running until June 2028.
The Uruguayan opened the door to the move last week, with talks progressing swiftly since.
It would be Liverpool’s second major outgoing in quick succession, following Luis Diaz’s €70 million move to Bayern Munich.
While the club won’t recover the full amount they spent on Nunez in 2022, the sale still represents a significant return as Arne Slot continues shaping the squad ahead of the new season.
