Liverpool are apparently considering a surprise move for a familiar face – none other than Ademola Lookman, the player Everton sold for £23 million five years ago.
Yes, you read that right. The Reds might just be about to raid their neighbour’s past for some added firepower up top.
After missing put on Martin Zubimendi, Jurgen Klopp’s abandoned squad still has a few gaps to fill, especially in the number six role. Sure, Ryan Gravenberch showed some promise in that position against Ipswich Town, particularly in the second half when he decided to actually show up.
But hey, let’s not get ahead of ourselves; Liverpool’s midfield still resembles Swiss cheese – full of holes. And don’t even get me started on the center-back situation.
Ibrahima Konate replaced Jarell Quansah at half-time, leaving everyone wondering if Slot is just playing a game of “Which defender will disappoint me the least today?”
Lookman to Liverpool?
But back to Lookman. According to TBR Football Liverpool are eyeing an audacious move for the 26-year-old winger. He is now playing for Atalanta in Series A.
The rumors were strengthened as Lookman was left out of Atalanta’s opening league squad. Apparently, he’s got his heart set on Paris Saint Germain. But while PSG, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have all been keeping tabs, nobody has made a decisive move yet.
Atalanta are reportedly demanding around €60 million (£51 million) for Lookman, which is a bit steep considering they are also on the verge of loosing Teun Koopmeiners to Juventus.
Liverpool as usual are linked with both players. But they seem more like a guy at the bar trying to decide between two drinks – only to leave without ordering either.
