Liverpool Champions League training highlighted who could feature against Atletico Madrid and who might not.

Curtis Jones missed another session, while academy striker Jayden Danns joined Arne Slot’s squad on Tuesday.

The midfielder has been absent since picking up a knock against Arsenal before the international break.

He also sat out the weekend’s win at Burnley and his continued absence leaves his availability for Wednesday night in doubt.

Danns, however, earned a promotion to the senior group as the only academy regular involved in first-team training.

He linked up with 21 outfield players and offered a glimpse of the next wave stepping into senior football.

Players who featured in training

Alexander Isak trained in full and is expected to be in contention for his Liverpool debut.

Arne Slot hinted in his pre-match press conference on Isak’s potential debut.

Alexis Mac Allister also took part after shaking off a minor ankle scare at Turf Moor.

There were no fresh injury concerns, with Stefan Bajcetic still out and Federico Chiesa unavailable due to his omission from the Champions League squad.

Among those spotted were Alisson, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Freddie Woodman in goal, alongside Armin Pecsi from the academy.

Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley, Jeremie Frimpong, Andy Robertson and Milos Kerkez made up the defensive group.

Midfield options included Florian Wirtz, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Wataru Endo and Trey Nyoni.

In attack, Mohamed Salah, Isak, Cody Gakpo, Hugo Ekitike, Chiesa, Rio Ngumoha and Danns all trained.

Arne Slot prefers compact senior sessions, so other prospects like Trent Kone-Doherty, Kieran Morrison and Kaide Gordon instead worked with the U21s in preparation for the UEFA Youth League tie with Atletico U19s.

Liverpool’s preparations underline the mix of established stars and promising youngsters now in the frame.

With Jones still absent and Isak pushing for a debut, all eyes will be on how Slot lines up against Atletico under the lights at Anfield.
