Liverpool boss Arne Slot has found out the punishment meted out to him by the FA following his involvement in the drama that ensued just after the Merseyside derby some weeks ago.

Both sides of Merseyside were brought against each other earlier this month, as Everton held the Premier League frontrunners to an entertaining and enthralling 2-2 stalemate.

Two players were sent off on the night, as Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucoure and Liverpool’s Curtis Jones saw red after the Reds’ midfielder expressed his displeasure in Doucoure’s celebrations in front of the LFC supporters.

Arne Slot and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff were also sent off by referee Michael Oliver after the manager aggressively shook the referee’s hand and was deemed to have acted in a wrong manner towards the match officials.

FA punishment confirmed for Arne Slot

The Football Association has confirmed that a decision has been made to give a two-game touchline ban to the Reds’ head coach, a fine of £70,000 has also been meted out as part of his punishment.

The implication of this move by the FA is that Slot will not be on the bench for the Reds’ next two Premier League fixtures.

The first is Wednesday’s visit to Newcastle United, he will also be forced to sit out the next fixture, a home match against Southampton on the 8th of March.

According to SportsMole, Arne Slot had already admitted,

“acted in an improper manner and/or used insulting and/or abusive words and/or behaviour towards both the match referee and an assistant referee.”

The Liverpool manager has already served a touchline ban this season, as he missed one game for picking up three yellow cards, as is the Premier League rule.

The two-game ban punishment was also given to Slot’s assistant Sipke Hulshoff for a red card, this means that Johnny Heitinga will be in the dugout for the two games they will be absent.

Sanctions were also given to Liverpool and Everton for failing to control their players and technical area members. The Reds were fined £50,000, while the Toffees were given a higher fine of £65,000.
