Liverpool may already boast one of the deepest squads in the Premier League, but the transfer rumour mill is spinning again.
Reports (via TEAMtalk) from England suggest the Reds are eyeing a shock midfield addition when the January window opens. The name causing a stir? Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.
The 21-year-old has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season. His calm passing and ability to control games have earned him admirers across Europe.
Real Madrid and several English giants are also believed to be monitoring the youngster. But Liverpool, fresh off a heavy summer spend, are reportedly preparing to test Palace’s resolve.

Palace dig in their heels as Liverpool eye Adam Wharton
Palace boss Oliver Glasner is said to view Wharton as untouchable this winter. The midfielder is under contract until 2029, and the club have shown before that they are tough negotiators.
Former Manchester United scout Mick Brown summed it up: “We know how difficult Palace are to deal with, Liverpool found that out when they tried to sign Marc Guehi before Palace pulled the plug on that deal. They don’t want to lose Wharton, especially not in January because he would be a very difficult player for them to replace, so they’ll be doing everything they can to keep hold of him.”
Brown also warned that January is a tricky market for major transfers, adding, “I don’t see anything happening in January.” Despite that, whispers of a nine-figure bid refuse to fade. Crystal Palace reportedly value Wharton near the £100 million mark.
Liverpool fans know Anfield has witnessed dramatic last-minute winners, but can the club pull off a stoppage-time signing too? With Arne Slot’s team flying high, the Reds may still see Wharton as the missing piece to keep their midfield ticking when the season gets tight.
