Liverpool are behind only one other Premier League club in respect to wages that were paid to players last season.
Although Liverpool have a reputation of being unwilling spenders when it comes to transfers, it appears that the club’s owners [Fenway Sports Group] are only willing to splurge huge money to secure the best players fit for the club.
According to the UEFA European Club Finance and Investment Landscape study, it reports that the Reds’ wage bill for the 2023-24 campaign stood at £377.64m.
The club has made some big money signings in the past years, and these have also come with a cost of huge salaries to players.

Liverpool wages expense for 2023-24 season disclosed
As per UEFA’s recent report, Liverpool disbursed the fifth highest total on wages in the last campaign, coming behind only Paris Saint-Germain [£553.4m], Manchester City [£465.9m], Real Madrid [£424.7m] and Barcelona [£399.9m].
Liverpool are now the second placed team in England for wages paid and sit below Man City for Premier League sides. The Reds also surpassed Chelsea and took their position in the top five across Europe.
In the 2022-23 season, LFC stood at sixth place but a 5% increase in the amount paid to players as wages saw them move up one spot in last term’s reports.
This figure encompasses performance based bonuses and the payout made to former head coach Jurgen Klopp and other members of his coaching/backroom staff following their exits at the end of last season. This figure went up to a total of £9.6m as per reports.
According to thisisanfield, the accumulative wage bill of Liverpool for the 2023-24 season amounted for about 63% of the club’s total revenue, which is the fifth most across Europe’s top leagues for wages.
