Liverpool and Atletico Madrid are in discussions to pay tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva ahead of their UCL clash at Anfield.

The tragic passing of Liverpool’s No. 20 still lives in the hearts of football fans across the world. Liverpool have already honoured Diogo Jota in their opening Premier League game this season, and the club now wants to remember him once again in their first UCL match of the 25/26 campaign.

Liverpool will face the Spanish side at Anfield on Wednesday. The Merseysiders have spent heavily this summer to rebuild their squad, aiming to bring European glory back to Anfield this season.

Atletico boss Diego Simeone also spoke about the upcoming clash, saying: “Magnificent rival, great fans and stadium, and a coach who took them to the highest level.”

He added: “What do I like most about them? Verticality, quick transitions, they play very simply to get a lot of people into the box… They don’t need many passes to go from one side to the other. It’s a very voracious team and it will be tough.”

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot also shared his thoughts on Atletico, saying: “Atletico Madrid have done so well in La Liga with Diego Simeone. This is a team that is difficult to play against because of the mentality, the team performance, and the individual quality.”
