There was a significant wage increase in Liverpool’s previous tax year, which has now been broken down and explained further.
A lot of confusion arose following Reds’ estimations earlier this year, especially considering that some of the high earners departed the club after the 2022-23 season.
Among the players who left James Milner, Fabinho, Naby Keita, Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jordan Henderson.
The growth rate in disbursed wages in the 2023-24 season came as a result of the payouts made to Arne Slot’s predecessor Jurgen Klopp and his back room staff when they left at the end of that season.

Most of the £13 million growth in wage payments was as a result of a payout to Jurgen Klopp and his staff following their departure.
The German coach left with assistant coaches and staff, including Pepijn Lijnders, Vitor Matos, John Achterberg, Andreas Kornmayer, Andreas Schlumberger, and Jack Robinson, and the payments made out summed up to £9.6 million.
Bonuses that were given to the players for their achievements in the UEFA Champions League 2022-23 season, were also included in the documentation for the 2023-24 season.
According to thisisanfield, there could have also been an increase in performance bonuses for Mo Salah, who signed a new contract in 2022.
