Liverpool are planning a late-window signing spree, with significant behind-the-scenes activity, according to former Everton CEO Keith Wyness. Media reports may not reflect these developments.
Wyness Says Liverpool Have Hidden Plans
Liverpool are reportedly preparing for a late-window signing blitz, contrary to media reports suggesting a quiet transfer period.
According to former Everton CEO Keith Wyness, significant transfer activity is happening behind the scenes at Liverpool, orchestrated by Michael Edwards and new manager Arne Slot.
Wyness, who now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs, shared his insights on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.
He believes that the duo will make strategic decisions at the right time, emphasizing that there is still ample time left in the transfer window for Liverpool to secure new additions.
Reds Plan
Wyness explained that Slot, who succeeded Jurgen Klopp, is wisely taking his time to assess the squad before making any hasty decisions.
This cautious approach is deemed necessary to ensure long-term stability and avoid rash signings that could have lasting negative impacts.
Wyness stated,
“I think Arne Slot had to have time to come in to analyze things for the internal discussions to happen. There is still plenty of time left in the market. There is about another six weeks or so to go.”
This indicates that Liverpool’s transfer strategy involves careful planning and consideration, contrary to the immediate rush anticipated by many.
Surprise For The Media
Despite no new signings so far, Wyness has confidence in Edwards, who has recently returned to Anfield as the chief executive of football under Fenway Sports Group.
He believes Edwards and Slot are engaged in extensive discussions and planning behind the scenes, which the media and Premier League clubs might not be aware of.
Wyness asserted,
“The media is often so wrong in terms of what really is going to happen and a lot of discussions are going on behind the scenes that are not known about. Things are and will be happening.”
This highlights the strategic and well-thought-out approach Liverpool are taking in the transfer market, with key moves expected as the window progresses.
