Journalist gives the latest update on Ibrahima Konate’s contract at Liverpool.
The French international defender is a highly important player in the defence of the Merseyside club and has forged a strong partnership with Virgil van Dijk over the years.
Konate’s current contract with the Reds is set to expire in 2026, but due to his key role at the back, the club has offered him a new deal to extend his stay at the club beyond the summer of next year.
Liverpool are in a contract dilemma with three of their best players, Captain Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, as the trio are all in the last few months of their current contracts.
It seems the Reds have learned from the situation and they have exhibited it by offering Konate a new contract.

Journalist drops update on Konate’s contract
According to The Times journalist Paul Joyce, Liverpool’s 25-year-old defender Ibrahima Konate has not agreed to the terms offered to him to sign a new contract with Liverpool.
As per AnythingLFC on X, the journalist reported,
“Ibrahima Konate is yet to sign the new terms offered to him and he will soon be into the final year of his contract, with whispers growing about interest in the France centre back from Paris Saint-German and possibly Real Madrid.”
Konate has been an important figure for Liverpool and has been an obvious miss when not playing alongside captain Virgil van Dijk.
Despite the Reds making the contract offer towards the end of 2024, the center-back has still not agreed on a new deal. This is worrying for Liverpool, as the defender’s current deal expires in just over a year.
This has raised the interest of different clubs from across Europe. PSG and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in the center-back should the player be looking to leave England, as he is yet to agree to new terms with the Premier League leaders.
The defender has been at Liverpool since 2021 and has contributed two goals and two assists this term across all competitions.
