Jamie Carragher has revealed that Liverpool made a contract offer to Mohamed Salah contrary to statements of the player claiming otherwise.
Liverpool have had a stellar season so far, but fans have been worried that Mohamed Salah could leave the club at the end of the term as his current contract expires in June 2025.
The Egyptian has stated in the past that there was no news regarding an extension of his contract at Anfield. Carragher had pointed fingers at Salah and called him selfish for allegedly making his contact negotiations public.
Jamie Carragher has revealed that Liverpool did make a contract offer to Mohamed Salah, despite the Egyptian forward’s recent comments suggesting no such offer had been made.
As per SportsMole, in a recent discussion, Carragher confirmed that the Reds had extended an official contract proposal to Salah, contradicting the player’s earlier claim that no formal contract talks had taken place.

Jamie Carragher contradicts Mo Salah
Carragher said on The Overlap’s Fan Debate: “Do not believe he hasn’t been offered a contract. I can actually assure you he has been offered a contract.”
He went on to add: “We talk about Saudi, I just can’t see Salah doing that. He’s too driven, he’s too much of a winner. I think Salah can go until he’s 37, 38. He can play.”
The revelation has sparked intrigue as Salah’s current deal runs until June 2025, with ongoing speculation about his future on Merseyside.
Despite Salah’s earlier remarks, Carragher’s statement casts new light on the situation, suggesting there may be more to the story than initially thought.
One of the key issues in the negotiations appears to be the length of the contract Salah is seeking. While he has maintained world-class form this season, his unavoidable decline as he grows older remains a factor.
Nonetheless, allowing the marquee winger to depart for free would be a major gamble for Liverpool, as they are unlikely to get a replacement who can match his contributions up the pitch.
The twist raises fresh questions about the direction of Salah’s career and Liverpool’s strategy moving forward. Fans and pundits alike will be watching closely as the situation continues to evolve.
