Federico Chiesa the only Liverpool new addition this summer, is yet to make his debut for the Reds following a cruciating injury since his move from Juventus.
Prior to Liverpool’s crucial match against Manchester United the 26-year-old Italian forward was acquired from Serie A giants Juventus.
During the international break, he trained with the Liverpool U21 team to increase his level of fitness.
Especially with a demanding schedule ahead, manager Arne Slot has been keen to incorporate him into the group.
Although Chiesa has been ruled out till now, Harvey Elliott’s untimely injury may present a chance for the Italian’s eagerly anticipated debut.
Elliott setting the way for Chiesa Liverpool debut
With Elliott expected to miss six weeks due to a foot fracture sustained while playing for the England U21 team, Liverpool will have fewer options in the midfield.
Slot may decide to give Chiesa his debut appearance earlier than planned as a result of this circumstance.
Chiesa’s inclusion is increasingly likely given that Liverpool’s next schedule includes Premier League Champions League and Carabao Cup matches all of which will call for rotation and new legs.
His skill set which includes quickness, dribbling and a clinical finish in front of the goal could give Liverpool a big advantage.
Chiesa’s return to fitness will offer Slot more flexibility in attack, especially with the team balancing domestic and European commitments.
His debut could come as early as Liverpool’s match against Nottingham Forest after the international break, marking the beginning of what could be a pivotal season for the Italian star at Anfield.
