Liverpool’s sparkling form at the Premier League summit has left rivals reeling, but head coach Arne Slot isn’t resting on his laurels. With Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley sidelined since November’s Real Madrid clash, fans have long awaited news of their return—and Slot’s latest comments offer both hope and caution.
“They will not be back for West Ham United,” Slot confirmed bluntly ahead of Sunday’s encounter.
“Then there is a week in between [before Manchester United], so let’s see how close they are then. It’s difficult for me to tell you at this moment because they don’t train with the group yet.”

The waiting game drags on, but the Dutchman hinted at progress, saying,
“But hopefully in the upcoming days they come closer to that situation. And then again, Ibou has been out then for five or six weeks maybe, Conor just as long I think, the same amount.
And also for them, they are in competition with players that are completely fit and doing really well, so I have to make the right judgement the moment they are back with the team.”
Konate and Bradley return updates: Arne Slot’s verdict
Konate’s absence has been cushioned by the resurgence of Joe Gomez and the consistent brilliance of Trent Alexander-Arnold. Meanwhile, Bradley’s potential return promises much-needed depth in a squad chasing glory on multiple fronts.
Slot’s cautious optimism extends to Diogo Jota, who has been gingerly reintegrated after a two-month layoff. “We are still managing his fitness,” Slot said, emphasizing patience.
“Sometimes, if a player has an injury, he can do a lot, but he couldn’t for quite a long time. Since this league is so intense, it’s not easy with two months out to play from the start again.”
Jota’s gradual build-up reflects Liverpool’s enviable depth, with Slot highlighting the fierce competition within the squad. He noted,
“He is in competition with some other special players as well who are, at this moment, also on top of their game.”
With Manchester United just over a week away, Liverpool fans will hope Konate and Bradley are ready to bolster a squad eyeing nothing less than glory. For now, Slot’s message is clear: competition breeds excellence, and patience will be rewarded.
