Ibrahima Konate was seen speaking about Liverpool’s new signing and comparing him with Trent Alexander-Arnold, who left Anfield last week after spending 20 years at the club.
Liverpool were top-notch in the Premier League last season. They convincingly won the league, securing their 20th title in club history.
Now, the club and boss Arne Slot want to rebuild the squad for next season. They are very active in the transfer market, with players like Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez expected to arrive at Merseyside very soon, as per multiple sources.
The club already announced the signing of Jeremie Frimpong to replace Trent and didn’t waste any time bringing the right-back to Anfield.
It’s never easy to replace a player who consistently performed on the right flank for years, but Arne Slot has decided to bring in the Dutchman.
French defender Ibrahima Konate shared his thoughts on Jeremie Frimpong’s signing as the replacement for Liverpool’s number 66.

What Ibrahima Konate shared
The 26-year-old defender said, “It’ll be different with him compared to Trent. That’s for sure, because they’re different players.”
He gave his opinion on both fullbacks. While both players have similar roles, every footballer brings their style and abilities to the pitch.
Their stats were also quite similar last season in their respective leagues. Trent scored 3 goals and provided 6 assists in 33 matches in the Premier League, while Frimpong scored 5 goals and registered 5 assists in the Bundesliga.
Their attacking abilities are nearly the same, but Trent is also known for his playmaking qualities on the right flank. On the other hand, Frimpong’s pace and explosive presence on the right side of the pitch are top-notch.
Konate also added, “But I’m happy for him. He’s a good person, very funny, and I wish him every happiness at Liverpool when he arrives. I have no worries about him.”
It looks like the French defender is excited to start his journey with his new teammate and has shared his joy in welcoming him to Liverpool.
He also shared his thoughts about the Dutch mastermind Arne Slot:
“He has a playing philosophy that’s a bit different — he’s more focused on build-up play and holding onto the ball a bit more. But he didn’t ask me to change anything specifically.”
