Hugo Ekitike speaks his first words after being unveiled by the club on Thursday.
Liverpool finally sealed the deal a few days ago to sign Ekitike from the German side Frankfurt. Arne Slot’s side paid over €90m for the forward.
As Darwin Nunez is surely out of Slot’s plans, the Merseysiders were looking for a striker to replace him. They had 2–3 names on the list, but the French forward was chosen from that shortlist.
Although another big name, Alexander Isak, is still on Liverpool’s list even after signing Hugo Ekitike. The Dutch manager might want to build a team that suits a 4-4-2 formation, as he seems to be planning to go with that for the upcoming season.

What Hugo Ekitike said after being unveiled by Liverpool
Hugo Ekitike said: “I can’t define myself only as a striker [who likes] to finish: I like to play, I like to be in the game, in the collective part of play [and] create also. So, I can do both – I can play alone and I like to play also with another striker.”
He also sent a message to the fans: “Hey fans! Here [is] Hugo Ekitike, new Scouser! I can’t wait to win and score goals for you and just have success, and have fun in the stadium and to see you.”
Finally, he spoke about Liverpool, saying: “It’s the best team in England and one of the best teams in the world, so yeah, it was Liverpool. Since I talked to the coach, in my head I was sure about it.”
