Carragher thinks Wataru Endo isn’t a fit for Arne Slot’s Liverpool predicting the midfielder’s departure after just one season due to tactical differences.
Worries in the Midfield Area
Arne Slot, Liverpool new boss has yet to sign a player this summer transfer market, which has caused a concern among the fans of Liverpool.
People around Anfield are worried that their team needs strengthening in many areas of the squad particulalry middle of the park.
The recent news that Martin Zubimendi rejected a move to Anfield has further fueled frustrations.
Liverpool are set to face their first opponent in the upcoming new Premier League season, Ipswich Town a newly promoted side full of exciting talents, Wataru Endo is expected to play as No 6.
Liverpool legend Carragher words on Endo
Carragher, a Liverpool legend, voiced his concerns on the Blood Red podcast, stating that Endo might not be the right fit for Slot’s tactical setup.
He said,
“I think that last pre-season game, we all knew as players when we were playing, if you are in the team in that last standout pre-season game, then you have a great chance of playing,
It looked like he had Gravenberch in that number six position, it will be interesting who he puts there if he gets the signing that he wants from Real Sociedad over the line before then.
I think the standout thing for me, in terms of the holding midfield position, the fact that we put in a bid for a player and also the manager has played every single player in that role, except Endo. I know he played him at the start of the tour of America. Was that against Betis? I didn’t see the game, but I saw some reports that he found it difficult. I think Endo will go. I am pretty confident of that. It almost looks like he is completely the opposite of what he (Slot) wants in that role. It doesn’t mean that he is a bad player. It just means that when a manager wants to play a slightly different type of game, tactics or set-up. I think he will play virtually everybody there instead of Endo actually – that’s why I think he will move on.”
He has clearly expressed where he stands on the No 6 role issue in Liverpool and Endo is not the perfect solution.
This Summer Transfer window
Liverpool’s transfer window so far is not a fan favourite, as there are many players leaving the squad but there is no sign of a new player coming in.
Carvalho joining Brentford, there is a uncertain situations prevail around the pivotal players like Virgil Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah are out of contract next summer.
Liverpool have to make a move before its too late, their squad has many areas that need bolstering, Fans are worried that this might not be a problem now but half way down the season, squads with best bench strength always comes out on top.
