Harvey Elliott has picked up a foot injury in England U21 training, which is a deadly blow to Liverpool as they are scheduled for crucial matches ahead in the Premier League and Champions League.
Reports suggest that this foot injury may cause the 21-year-old to miss at least seven to ten Liverpool games including crucial Carabao Cup and Champions League matches.
Elliott had a very strong pre-season, but in the first three Premier League games Arne Slot played him only 7 minutes but was planned to play more part as the season heats up.
Liverpool are already dealing with another injury including one that occurred when Alexis Mac Allister was playing for Argentina internationally. However, it’s nothing major for Mac Allister but Elliott’s injury will be a major setback for the Reds.
Elliott cursed with an injury
The arrival of a midfield trio consisting of Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch has limited Elliott’s opportunities despite the fact that he had a strong form in the pre-season and appeared optimistic in those games.
Elliott’s chances of receiving regular minutes were already limited because of Mohamed Salah’s outstanding play and Federico Chiesa’s summer arrival which limited his options on the right wing.
If he recovers he may still have opportunities to establish his value and have an influence on the team given Liverpool’s hectic schedule leading up to Christmas.
This injury could not have come at a worse time from a fan’s perspective, this is bad for both Liverpool and the player. Fans of Liverpool are hoping to see the youngster back on the pitch as the Anfield Home team wish him a speedy recovery
