After being unveiled as the first signing of the summer for Liverpool, Jeremie Frimpong shared his thoughts about the club and his new teammates.

He arrived at Merseyside to replace 26-year-old right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who left the club after 20 years to join Spanish giants Real Madrid ahead of the Club World Cup in the United States.

Frimpong’s signing was made official later on the same day after Real Madrid announced the signing of Trent from Liverpool.

The Dutchman’s arrival cost around €35 million after the Premier League champions triggered his release clause at Bayer Leverkusen. According to reports (via Fabrizio Romano), Liverpool will pay the amount in three annual instalments to the German side.

Many reports suggest Arne Slot played a crucial role in bringing the right-back to Anfield, and Frimpong also shared his excitement after becoming a Liverpool player:

“I’m really excited [to work with Arne Slot]. Even when I was at [the] national team, some of the Feyenoord boys would tell me about him and be like, ‘He’s the best coach I’ve ever had.’ Things like this.”

He also added, “So, I’ve always heard good things about the coach. Now he’s going to be my coach, so I’m excited for that.”

Frimpong also shared his feelings about playing for Liverpool and alongside Mohamed Salah:

“Playing with world-class players, as a footballer it’s a great feeling. It’s a privilege. Like, I’m gonna be next to Mo Salah.”

Jeremie Frimpong becomes the latest Dutch player to arrive at Anfield, joining Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch.

Ryan Gravenberch shared a fun moment related to his countryman’s move to Anfield, reflecting on their conversation about the transfer.

What did Ryan Gravenberch reveal after Frimpong’s Liverpool move?

He said, “We [Virgil, Gakpo, and Frimpong] happened to be sitting together and we were talking about it [his move], and in the end he made one nice choice, so everybody is happy for him.”

The Dutch connection is looking strong at Liverpool.

The Premier League Young Player of the Season 2024/25 winner may have played an underrated role, alongside Gakpo and Van Dijk, in convincing Frimpong to make a move to England.
