Former Liverpool player creates Premier League history

Former Liverpool midfielder James Milner has made history by becoming the only player to have played in 23 Premier League seasons.

Ryan Giggs previously held the record for the most seasons in the Premier League, sharing it with Milner at 22 seasons each. The 38 year old Englishmen made his debut in England’s top flight in 2002 when he played for Leeds.

Milner who plays for Brighton now is seven years older than their current manager Fabian Hurzeler.

James Milner creates Premier League history

Milner created Premier League history on Saturday when he started for Brighton against Everton. He was marking his 636th appearance in the Premier League.

James Milner left Liverpool in 2023 on a free transfer after completing 9 seasons with the club. He joined the reds from Manchester City in 2015 on a free transfer as well. Milner made 332 appearances with Liverpool and was a key player for Jurgen Klopp in winning all possible trophies. In his 23 seasons in the Premier League he has made the most appearances for Liverpool.

In his long career, James Milner has won the Premier League thrice ( 11/12, 13/14, 19/20), Champions league with Liverpool (18/19), 2 FA Cups, Super cup and Club World Cup with Liverpool.

Milner has also featured for Leeds, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Manchester City. James Milner was only 16 when he made his debut with Leeds United. This is his second season with Brighton.
