Liverpool’s summer is heating up before the window even opens. With Trent Alexander-Arnold set to leave Anfield at the end of the season, the Reds are now eyeing a replacement and a familiar name is climbing to the top of their list.

Jeremie Frimpong, the Dutch speedster lighting up Bayer Leverkusen, is reportedly eager to make the switch to Merseyside.

According to David Ornstein, Frimpong “would be keen on a move to Liverpool if they decide to go down that route.” (via Anfield Sector)

The news comes just days after Alexander-Arnold confirmed he will not extend his contract, with Real Madrid believed to be his next destination.

His exit leaves a gaping hole in Arne Slot’s new-look squad, one that won’t be easy to fill.

While Conor Bradley has shown promise as a backup, his fitness record raises questions. Liverpool’s decision-makers seem to agree that relying solely on the young Northern Irishman could be risky in a demanding season.

Why Frimpong could be a perfect Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement for Liverpool

Frimpong’s performances under former Red Xabi Alonso have turned heads across Europe. With 25 goals and 33 assists in just 125 games, he’s proven to be more than just a full-back. He’s a full-on threat.

The 24-year-old isn’t just fast — he’s forward-thinking, aggressive in attack, and comfortable all along the right side. Whether bombing down the wing or linking play in tight spaces, Frimpong could bring both flair and function to Liverpool’s flank.

The big boost for Liverpool? A release clause in Frimpong’s contract. According to reports, he’ll be available this summer for around €40m (£36m). That’s a tempting fee in today’s market, especially for a player with both youth and experience.

Several clubs are circling, but Liverpool have already made contact. And with the player himself open to the move, this could move quickly if the Reds decide to press ahead.

Alexander-Arnold may be Madrid-bound, but if Frimpong walks through the Shankly Gates, Liverpool fans might not be missing their No. 66 for long.

Frimpong wants Anfield. The ball is in Liverpool’s court.
