Jayden Danns, the young Liverpool prodigy, was noticeably absent from the recent friendly against Preston North End, and the mystery has been solved. It was due to a minor injury.

The 18-year-old turned heads last season and jumped into pre-season training with new head honcho Arne Slot, was one of three key players missing in action.

Despite his dazzling start, Danns had to sit out the behind-closed-doors match at the AXA Training Centre. His absence left fans eagerly awaiting his return to the pitch.

During the 1-0 defeat to Preston, Liverpool’s attack was led by Fabio Carvalho, followed by Lewis Koumas, Harvey Blair, and Kaide Gordon after halftime. Slot made a substantial 10 changes at the break.

Just A Minor Fitness Issue For Liverpool Youngster Danns

The Athletic’s James Pearce reported that Danns’ absence was precautionary due to a minor fitness issue.

Slot’s priority remains to maintain player fitness, and fortunately, no injuries were sustained during the match.

Danns hopes to recover swiftly to join Liverpool’s upcoming three-stop tour of the United States.

Liverpool will have games against Real Betis on July 26, Arsenal on July 31, and Manchester United on August 3.

This tour is crucial as the squad prepares for the season ahead. The tour will conclude with a friendly against Sevilla on August 11 before their league opener.

In addition to Danns, Caoimhin Kelleher and Andy Robertson were also missing from Friday’s match.

The team’s focus is on fitness and integrating Slot’s strategies, blending new ideas with the successful practices already in place.

The head coach was level-headed when he gave his verdict after Friday’s 1-0 loss, saying:

“The most important thing is that everybody was fit before the game and they stayed fit during the game as well.

It’s been a good two weeks. Unfortunately, the result was not what we wanted, but they stayed fit, many of them got minutes [and] also a lot of young players got a few minutes, so that was a good thing.

We couldn’t have asked for more from the boys in the first two weeks – [they have] worked really hard, tried to implement ideas and it’s not that we only bring new ideas.

There are a lot of things that have been done here that were really good. So, like I said, a bit unlucky to lose 1-0 if you only conceded one shot.”
