Curtis Jones has stepped up with a clear message to Liverpool fans and teammates after a bruising week that saw the Reds suffer back-to-back defeats.

The midfielder, who has grown into one of the key figures under Arne Slot, urged calm and perspective as the squad look to regroup ahead of another crucial clash.

Liverpool’s perfect start to the season came to a halt last weekend when Crystal Palace snatched a stoppage-time winner at Selhurst Park.

That was followed by a frustrating Champions League loss away to Galatasaray, where despite dominating possession, the Reds struggled to find the net.

The rare sequence of consecutive defeats sparked questions about momentum, but Jones insists that the focus should now shift to resilience and a quick response.

With a trip to Chelsea fast approaching, he believes the team have the quality and mentality to turn things around.

Curtis Jones calls for calm after double setback

Jones admitted the losses were disappointing but underlined that setbacks are part of football.

“That’s just part of the game … it’s just how you bounce back,” he said confidently (via Liverpool FC).

He explained that while fans may expect Liverpool to win every game, the level of opposition makes defeats inevitable at times.

“The teams we play are world-class teams and it’s normal if you lose games … we’ve got a huge game in three days, so we have to go again. The lads have to stay calm.”

Reflecting on the 1-0 defeat in Istanbul, he insisted there were positives to take away:

“I thought the lads actually played well. In the second half they just played in a low block and it was hard. It was a physical team as well [and] the fans were behind them for the whole of the night.”

He highlighted moments when he linked well with Ryan Gravenberch and Florian Wirtz, but stressed the need for more sharpness in the final third.

Jones closed by making clear that the Chelsea fixture offers the perfect chance to reset: focus, unity and belief will be key in showing the real Liverpool again.
