Boss Demands Referee Protection for Liverpool’s Star Attraction

Lucky charm of Colombia going into the Copa America is Luis Diaz. Prior to that, manager Nestor Lorenzo wants protection for the winger.

Luis Diaz, a winger for Liverpool, was the victim of a horrific tackle, prompting Colombian manager Nestor Lorenzo to demand additional protection for the player.

Prior to the Copa America, which begins on Friday, the Tricolor is among the favourites. They were put into Group D, which also includes Costa Rica, Paraguay, and Brazil.

Luis Diaz Blazing A Trail For Colombia

Colombia defeated Bolivia 3-0 in their last warm-up match before the competition got off in the USA. At the centre of his team’s play, Diaz scored their third goal in the 41st minute.

However, Bolivia’s Hector Cuellar’s late challenge in minute 68 caused him to be chopped down. Cuellar was only given a yellow card, but it started a huge brawl that resulted in one guy being sent off for each team.

Speaking after the win, Lorenzo said he believed that fans ‘came to see’ Diaz perform. However, the manager of Colombia believes that the 27-year-old is too frequently targeted and that his treatment necessitated his withdrawal.

According to AS, Lorenzo stated:

“I have to play with Luis Díaz; people come to see Luis Díaz. Should I have to remove him from the game because the referee is unable to keep him safe… Not that they hit too much, but there were plays that happened within half a centimeter of a powerful impact and required them to be called to attention.

Let him receive a yellow card to put an end to this, we instructed the lineman. He apologizes, saying that perhaps I should have taken the risk (Luis Díaz), but I don’t think so. He should have played the entire game, in my opinion.”
