Reds’ forward Cody Gakpo has been unavailable for their last two games.
It remains to be seen if the player will play against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, the club has given a hint about that.
Gakpo has been hugely instrumental for Liverpool this campaign. The Netherlands international has found the back of the net 16 times across all competitions and appears to be the first-choice option as a left winger for the Reds.
However, Gakpo has been out of action for Liverpool’s last two fixtures, following a knock he picked up earlier this month in the Merseyside Derby against local rivals Everton.

Liverpool drop hint on Cody Gakpo fitness
According to Liverpoolworld, speaking on Thursday at his press conference, Arne Slot did not seem too worried about Gakpo’s injury, as he said,
“I hope he’s available, I’m not a hundred percent sure, he has not trained with the team yet.”
He added, “Maybe he does train a bit today, I don’t know exactly. But it will be a close call.”
Given that young midfielder, James McConnell was a member of the match-day squad at Aston Villa midweek.
But the 20-year-old played for the club’s U21s on Friday and even completed the full 90 minutes, this indicates that the possibility of Cody Gakpo being ready for the City clash is better than they were.
If Gakpo is indeed fit to make the squad on Sunday, he would most likely come on from the bench as he is not going to be 100% fit, having been absent for the last two games.
Luis Diaz is expected to start from the off on the left wing in his stead, as he was given a rest against Aston Villa and only came in from the 80th minute.
Cody Gakpo’s availability will be a huge plus for Liverpool when they take on Man City, as the Reds continue their charge for the Premier League crown.
The forward was one of those on the scoresheet when these two sides met earlier in the season at Anfield when Liverpool picked up a 2-0 win over the defending League champions.
Slot will be hoping his fellow countryman will be able to get fit just in time for another huge match in their title pursuit.
