Carragher Slams Liverpool Midfield

Liverpool midfield have been a topic of discussion, especially with the anticipated addition of Spanish star midfielder Martin Zubimendi from La liga.

The Reds have struggled to fill the No 6 role since Fabinho’s departure, despite efforts to secure players like Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who were ultimately signed by the Rival Premier League club Chlesea.

Jamie Carragher said on The Overlap, noting,

“Liverpool definitely lack legs and energy in midfield,” particularly pointing out the trio of Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, and Harvey Elliott.”

Difference in Approach

Jamie Carragher highlighted the huge difference in approach between Jurgen Klop and Arne Slot way of play in the middle of the park.

Fabinho perfectly fitted the role that Jurgen Klopp, Arne Slot’s style of play requires a dynamic midfielder who runs the field and has a work rate of a horse.

He warned that a player similar to Mac Allister could affect the defensive line ,

“You lacked that physical presence, that energy to protect the back four.”

Carragher’s statements indicate that Zubimendi might not be the exact solution Liverpool are looking for .

Missed Opportunity

In addition to Carragher’s claim, Paul Scholes former Man Utd player, highlighted that Liverpool missed a great opportunity to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham, who went to Bayern.

As Liverpool continues to revamp its midfield under Slot, fans remain hopeful that Zubimendi’s arrival, coupled with potential further signings, will address the energy and physicality issues that have plagued the team’s midfield.

Liverpool are yet to make a move in transfer market this summer which is a bad sign but fans are hoping that their club makes a move before its too late.
