Jamie Carragher famous pundit, lauded Liverpool for their strong display of dominance over AC Milan in their opening UCL game.
Liverpool defeated AC Milan 3-1 at the San Siro to start their Champions League campaign under new manager Arne Slot.
Christian Pulisic’s goal for Milan gave them an early lead but Liverpool quickly took control thanks to two set-piece goals and Dominik Szoboszlai’s goal in the second half sealed the victory.
Carragher lauds this star for Liverpool triumph over Milan
Following a disappointing loss to Nottingham Forest the previous weekend Jamie Carragher lauded Liverpool as early favorites for the championship and highlighted their tenacity.
Carragher was especially pleased with Ryan Gravenberch who has become a wholly different player under Slot’s tutelage than he was under Jurgen Klopp.
He said on CBS Sports,
“This happens with every new manager and every team.
They come on and have an effect on a player who you maybe thought was not good enough or the last manager didn’t really like. I think that player is Gravenberch in midfield.
He looks a completely different player now under this manager than he did under Jurgen Klopp, so that has been a real plus for Liverpool.”
The increasing perception that Slot is benefiting both the team and individual players is reflected in Carragher’s appreciation.
He emphasized how Liverpool particularly in midfield are entering a promising new era as a result of Gravenberch’s development under Slot.
Liverpool have re-established themselves as a major force in Europe with performances such as these.
With games against West Ham and Bournemouth coming up Slot will try to keep up the winning trend and possibly further establish Liverpool’s supremacy in all competitions.
