Arne Slot reacted to questions on Liverpool’s target and Newcastle United’s striker Alexander Isak.
The Magpies and Sweden international striker scored a brace against Nottingham Forest last time out, to move to 19 league goals for the season.
The striker’s second on Sunday also ensured that the forward hit 50 goals in the English Premier League.
The Liverpool manager was asked about the problems the Newcastle No. 9 could pose to his team when they meet at Anfield on Wednesday night.
There have also been reports claiming that Liverpool have solid interest in bringing the striker to Merseyside in the summer transfer market.

Arne Slot reacts to questions about Alexander Isak
Slot and his team will be looking to minimize the impact of Isak when the sides meet. The Dutch coach however expressed his thoughts when asked about the great form of the striker in his press conference before the match.
As per thisisanfield, Slot said,
“It is an understatement to say he is in fine form, I think he is in excellent form.”
Speaking on how his team plan to stifle the striker, he noted,
“Also over there it is the team performance that will help us control him, so the more ball possession we have the easier it is to control him. Although he’s definitely a threat on the counter attack as well.”
The Liverpool boss also added,
“The good thing for us is we’ve got two centre backs that are probably some of the best players who are able to play against him.
I don’t say this with perfect English, but what I mean is that we’ve got two very, very good centre backs and that’s definitely what you need if you face a striker with the quality of Alexander Isak.”
The fleet-footed striker is not the only Newcastle player who has caught Arne Slot’s attention, another player is Anthony Gordon, who Liverpool tried to bring in last summer. The Reds were unsuccessful in their attempts to sign the blistering-paced English forward.
There is an evident need for a new central striker in Liverpool’s ranks, and the club is looking at different options for the position, with Isak touted as one of those players being seriously watched by those at Anfield.
