Liverpool’s pre-season tour took an unexpected twist in Hong Kong, but not because of the 4-2 loss to AC Milan. It was who didn’t play that grabbed attention.
Luis Diaz was left out of the squad completely, and after the match, head coach Arne Slot confirmed why.
The Colombian winger, heavily linked with a move away, is now one step closer to the Anfield exit door. Bayern Munich, it seems, are getting warmer in their pursuit.
While the result on the pitch didn’t go Liverpool’s way, it was Diaz’s absence that really got tongues wagging — especially with cameras catching him in the stands, not in uniform.
Slot, speaking after the game, said, “Yes, Luis Diaz was left out today due to speculation on his future.” That simple line said more than any transfer rumour has in weeks.
Bayern Munich have already had one bid for Diaz turned down by Liverpool, believed to be worth around £58 million.
Reports now suggest they’re preparing a second offer, possibly closer to the £75 million mark.

What Arne Slot said on Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez omission?
Diaz wasn’t the only big name missing. Darwin Nunez also sat out the Milan clash, but Slot downplayed any transfer talk there. “Darwin had a minor fitness issue,” he explained, ruling out any drama in that department.
That groan you heard? Fantasy football managers everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief.
Elsewhere, new signing Hugo Ekitike is still waiting for his debut, and Joe Gomez has returned to Merseyside to recover from an Achilles problem.
But for now, all eyes are on Diaz. Bayern are circling, and Liverpool’s stance may be shifting.
