Liverpool’s Premier League journey has kicked off flawlessly, but head coach Arne Slot believes there’s still plenty of work to be done.
As the Reds prepare to host Nottingham Forest at Anfield today, Slot shared his thoughts, reminding everyone that the perfect start doesn’t mean there’s no room for improvement.
The Reds have won their opening three matches without conceding a goal, and while fans may be flying high, Slot has his feet firmly on the ground.
Speaking in his latest programme notes, Slot said, “Neither myself nor anyone else associated with the first team believes we have done so well that there is no room for improvement. In reality, the opposite is true.”
Intense weeks Ahead for Liverpool
Liverpool’s return from the international break marks the beginning of a packed schedule. Over the next three weeks, the Reds will play seven matches across the Premier League, Champions League, and Carabao Cup.
Slot knows the intensity will test his squad, and he’s preparing for a challenging run: “We will play a match pretty much every three days so we have to be ready for that because the challenges will come thick and fast.”
While the unbeaten streak is something to cheer about, Slot remains cautious. Reflecting on the season’s start, he acknowledged both the highs and the areas needing improvement. “Our early objective was to take as many points as we could from our first three games and we managed to do that,” Slot explained, adding, “But we also know there are certain elements we could have done better.”
Liverpool fans, often quick to sing praises, should take comfort in Slot’s balance between ambition and realism.
Though they “were certainly good at Old Trafford,” where the Reds defeated Manchester United, the coach admits that performances can still reach another level.
Nottingham Forest won’t be easy as per Arne Slot
Today’s match against Nottingham Forest will be no walk in the park. Forest, led by Nuno Espirito Santo, have also enjoyed a solid start to the season, coming into the clash unbeaten. Slot expects a tough contest, saying, “Forest are hard to beat and will be hard to beat.”
With expectations high and the season just beginning, Liverpool fans will hope the team keeps delivering—and perhaps, sneak in a few more clean sheets along the way! But as Slot puts it, “We have made a good start, but there is still so much to prove.”
It’s a perfect reminder: while things look rosy at Anfield, there’s always room for growth—even when you’re already flying high at the top.
