Arne Slot has dropped a contract extension hint for Liverpool star following strong contributions in the Premier League game.

Wataru Endo has not managed to secure a regular starting spot since Arne Slot became manager, but the Japanese midfielder has earned praise for his performances in the limited time he has on the pitch.

Endo has appeared highly out of favour for most of the campaign but the Liverpool No. 3 is now getting regular admiration from his manager in public for his reliability and work ethic in his short cameos on the pitch.

Wataru Endo has started just four games in all competitions this season, with none of those starts coming in the Premier League.

Regardless, the midfielder has regularly shone when introduced in games as a substitute with his ability to control possession of the ball, win important fouls for his team and break up the opponent’s play.

According to thisisanfield, Slot in his post-match press conference following the 2-0 home win over Newcastle United, was full of praise for Endo. He said,

“I appreciate him a lot as a football player but also as a human being because no matter how many minutes the team needs him for, he always shows up.”

The manager also added, “The reason why he always shows up, that is what makes him special.”

This was the second time in recent weeks that Slot has lauded Endo with great comments, as he recently explained that he is a different breed because of how quickly he gets into the flow of the game, even though he has not played so much lately.

The midfielder, 32, who joined Liverpool in 2023 from Stuttgart, is not one who grabs all the headlines and attention.

But he makes the most of his experience when called upon this season and he would need to continue in the same vein, as Liverpool keep up the push towards the Premier League trophy amongst other accolades.
