The New Dutch boss Arne Slot has come to a conclusion on the player who will be playing the No 6 role for Liverpool in the Premier League opener.
Slot decision on Liverpool No 6 player
Liverpool new boss, Arne Slot has already decided on who will start as the No 6 in Liverpool Premier League opening showdown against Ipswich Town.
Slot mentioned that during the friendlies against Sevilla and Las Palmas, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo played as the deepest midfielders.
He emphasized,
“I have quite a good idea which player suits there at this moment in my opinion best, but also noted that his decision might change as the season progresses.“
Zubimendi among the mix
Liverpool are pursuing their hunt for a new number six, with their ongoing efforts to secure a deal for highly sorted midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
Despite this, Slot is evaluating his current squad and remains flexible with his selections.
He stated,
“We are still in a situation where we are constantly evaluating which is the best line-up for us.”
High Standards
Arne Slot is also very pleased with fitness levels of his current players, especially those who joined late due to Euro 2024 and Copa America.
Players like Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk made their first pre-season appearances in the recent friendlies.
Slot expressed his satisfaction, saying,
“I am pleased with the fitness level the team has and we are without injuries at the moment and that is important in pre-season.”
Fans are eagerly waiting for the Premier League season opener against the newly promoted Ipswich Town, not an easy side as they are known for their versatile play.
