Liverpool boss Arne Slot has delivered a key fitness update ahead of a crucial week for the Reds, confirming that Alisson Becker, Jeremie Frimpong, and Alexander Isak are all doubts for upcoming fixtures against Real Madrid and Manchester City.
The Reds are heading into a massive double-header — first against European giants Real Madrid at Anfield, followed by a Premier League showdown with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
But Slot’s squad looks stretched at the worst possible time.
Speaking to the media before the Real Madrid game, Slot confirmed that the trio would miss Tuesday’s match and offered mixed news about the weekend.
“All three are not available for tomorrow,” the Dutchman said. “Jeremie and Alisson will both also not be available for Sunday [vs. Man City]. With Alex, we have to wait and see. He’s definitely not starting on Sunday, but maybe he can be involved in the squad. He is still not training with the team, so we have to wait and see.”

Isak’s situation adds a twist to Liverpool’s attacking plans
While Alisson and Frimpong’s absence was somewhat expected, fans were holding their breath for updates on Isak.
The Swedish striker, who has shown flashes of brilliance since joining in the summer, remains sidelined with a groin issue. His potential involvement against City is “a maybe,” but as Slot hinted, nothing is certain yet.
That leaves Hugo Ekitike likely to lead the line again, with Liverpool hoping for another inspired performance. The Reds’ attack has clicked well at times, but against City, every inch will count — and Isak’s ability to stretch defenses could be sorely missed.
Meanwhile, Frimpong’s injury means Liverpool lose one of their most explosive outlets down the right flank. His absence could push Joe Gomez or Conor Bradley into a starting role, both of whom have stepped up admirably when called upon.
Despite the setbacks, Slot was quick to assure that his focus remains squarely on Real Madrid, not Sunday’s league clash. “Sunday’s game is not in my thinking when it comes to the lineup for tomorrow,” he said. “There are four days in between.”
Liverpool fans will be hoping that by the time the team heads to the Etihad, at least one of their injured stars is back in the fold. Until then, it’s another test of depth — and determination — for Slot’s men.
