Alexis Mac Allister has rejoined Liverpool’s pre-season preparations in Japan and says he’s “feeling good” again after an injury kept him out at the end of last season.
The Argentine midfielder missed the final two fixtures of the 2024/25 campaign and had yet to feature in a friendly this summer.
But after returning to full team training in Tokyo, he’s focused on regaining sharpness and hitting top form for the start of the new season.
“It has been a long time, a difficult time because it is never nice to be injured,” Mac Allister told Liverpool FC.
“But now I’m feeling good, it’s just about time and getting fit.”
The 26-year-old revealed that his injury was a combination of several issues.
“At the end, we found the solution; we have been working a lot in the gym, on my structure. Now I’m feeling good and for me that’s the most important thing.”

Mac Allister on season opener and adapting with new signings
Mac Allister confirmed he’s aiming to be ready for the 2025/26 season opener and possibly even the Community Shield.
“Yeah, hopefully. That’s the idea,” he said when asked if he expects to be available.
“I need to work on my physical shape and get used again to the level of the boys.
“But I’m feeling really, really good, training with the team and I’m pretty sure I’m going to be fine for the beginning of the season and hopefully for the [Community Shield] as well.”
Since his return, Mac Allister has been integrating with a refreshed Liverpool squad that includes new signings Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Florian Wirtz.
“It’s amazing,” he said. “I think we’ve made great additions to the team, they are showing in every single training [session] how good they are.”
Liverpool will wrap up their Asia tour with a friendly against Yokohama F. Marinos on Wednesday.
Reflecting on the passionate fan presence in Asia, Mac Allister added:
“I don’t think there are many teams that can come to Hong Kong or Japan and train with so many people [there].
“We are really happy to be here, happy to share some moments with them and hopefully on Wednesday can enjoy it as well.”
