The transfer window is heating up, and it seems Liverpool aren’t done cooking yet. After signing Hugo Ekitike for a hefty fee, the Reds are now reportedly eyeing another major name — Alexander Isak.
The Swedish striker has made his stance clear, and it may not be the news Newcastle fans were hoping for.
Isak has reportedly told Al Hilal that Liverpool is his top choice this summer. That’s despite serious interest from Saudi Arabia and Premier League rivals (via Sacha Tavolieri).
According to multiple reports (via ESPN), Isak is now open to leaving Newcastle, with Liverpool prepared to smash the British transfer record to bring him to Anfield.
TBR Football claims the Reds are ready to offer more than £120 million for the Swede, who netted 27 times last season.
Newcastle, though, are in no rush. Isak still has three years left on his contract, and the club is holding out for a fee close to £150 million.
Eddie Howe admitted the situation is not clear-cut. “It’s difficult for me to ever give 100% clarity on any player,” he said. “But Alex is happy at Newcastle… of course, we’re desperate to keep him.”
Well, Eddie, it might be time to tighten those purse strings — or find a new No. 14.

Why Alexander Isak is absent from Newcastle tour of Asia?
Isak’s absence from Newcastle’s preseason trip to Asia raised eyebrows. The official word is that he’s nursing a minor thigh injury.
But with speculation growing, many believe the striker’s decision to skip the tour has more to do with his uncertain future than fitness.
The Magpies are now shortlisting possible replacements, having missed out on Hugo Ekitike and Joao Pedro.
Liverpool, meanwhile, aren’t letting Ekitike’s arrival stop them from going big again. If Luis Diaz or Darwin Nunez leave, Isak could be the next big fish to swim into Anfield.
One thing’s for sure — this saga is far from over. And if Isak does join the Reds, defenders across the league might need a new plan.
Because once he starts scoring, it’s hard to Isak him down.
