Xherdan Shaqiri Announces Retirement From International Football
The Merseyside Club has seen a lot of talents coming and going during different transfer windows. One of their former players has recently risen after his sudden decision.
Anfield‘s supporters love this man although his span was not more than 3 years at the club. We are talking about Xherdan Shaqiri, the former Liverpool attacker who recently declared his retirement.
Starting from the 2014 Fifa World Cup, Shaqiri is the only European who has scored in the last six of the major tournaments.
The 32-year-old has led his country Switzerland till the Quarter Finals of Euro 2024. Though they lost against England, Xherdan Shaqiri fought valiantly before his retirement decision.
In 22 games in the last three World Cups and European Championship, Shaqiri has scored 10 goals.
Everyone became a fan of this former Liverpool attacker after Xherdan scored a hat trick against Honduras. This Monday saw him making an important announcement.
The Switzerland talisman wrote his heart out via an emotional post on his X handle (previously, Twitter)
“Seven tournaments, many goals, 14 years with the Swiss national team and unforgettable moments. It’s time to say goodbye to the national team. Great memories remain and I say to you all: THANK YOU!”
