Mohamed Salah reported to the AXA Training Centre today to start pre-season training under Arne Slot.
Egypt reportedly wanted Salah to participate in the summer Olympics in Paris which means he would have missed a pre-season tour in the USA.
Will Mohamed Salah Be Part Of Olympics?
The 2024 Olympics will take place in Paris between July 26 and August 11.
Salah was supposedly Egypt’s flag bearer at the Summer Olympics if he had decided to participate.
In his absence, Sara Samir (weightlifter) and Ahmed Elgendy (modern pentathlete) will lead Egypt out in Paris.
Salah reportedly turned down the chance to represent his country at the Olympics to join Liverpool for the pre-season tour.
Clubs, however, are not obliged to send players to the Olympics as it does not fall under FIFA rules.
As of now, Mo Salah will not participate in the Olympics and has reported for training this morning at AXA and will be available for pre-season tour and opening Premier League match.
Egypt’s Fixtures
Egypt are in Group C with Spain, the Dominican Republic, and Uzbekistan.
Egypt plays its first game against the Dominican Republic on July 24, followed by Uzbekistan on July 27 and Spain on July 30.
The knockouts begin on 3rd August and the final is on 9th August. Salah would have missed the whole pre-season tour if he had decided to participate.
