Jarrad Branthwaite the talented centre back for Everton, is a player that Liverpool and Manchester United may fight for in January.
The 21-year-old has been playing well drawing interest from elite Premier League teams with his composed performances and formidable defensive skills.
Liverpool targeting Branthwaite as a defensive bolster pick
During the summer transfer window Manchester United allegedly made several attempts to acquire Branthwaite offering as much as £50 million.
Everton though turned down those offers in favor of holding onto their young player since they saw him as a vital component of their team going forward.
As Arne Slot tries to bolster his defensive options Liverpool now seems to be entering the race.
The Reds view Branthwaite as a long-term center-back solution because of their defensive inconsistencies this season.
According to Daily Mail, there is a “feasible” chance that Liverpool might enter the race for the Evertonian defender this January.
Selling to their local rivals could complicate negotiations but if the right financial offer is made Everton might be amenable to a deal.
Manchester United and Liverpool are both eager to add the rising star to their rosters so there may be a fierce competition for Branthwaite’s signature during the January transfer window.
Its likely that his next destination will be determined by his performances between now and the winter window.
Will Liverpool be able to get the defensive bolstering that they need in order to challenge Manchester City and Arsenal for the title ?
