Everton striker Neal Maupay drops “neighbors” hint when talking about Liverpool target Khephren Thuram after being linked to Liverpool over a few weeks.
The Frenchman has been heavily linked to a move to Anfield along with fellow teammate, Manu Kone. Moreover, there have been reports suggesting that the Reds have been in direct talks with both the players’ agents.
Thuram is a bright young midfielder who has done well for his current club Nice. He will be representing France in the U21 European Championship starting in a couple of weeks’ time.
Maupay thinks Thuram is Liverpool bound
Everton striker Neal Maupay drops a hint which suggests Khephren Thuram will sign for Liverpool. He spoke about Thuram while talking to GymTonic.
“He’s a great player. We could be neighbours soon.”
These comments have fuelled these rumours even further. The French duo have also been found in Liverpool which have further added to the speculations.
The new sporting director, Schmadtke seems to have ramped up the Reds’ pursuit of signing a few midfielders. The midfield was the weak link in Liverpool’s poor season which saw them miss out on Champions League football for the first time since the 2016-17 season.
By targeting young midfielders, the Merseysiders seem to be building for the future along with short-term plans in mind. However, they need to be careful so as to not let these backfire upon them.
Thuram is a physically and technically strong box-to-box midfielder who can be an ideal fit in the Liverpool midfield. He is good on the ball, has the pace to help the team in defensive transition, is aerially very good, and can play in multiple positions. The 22-year-old, in short, is a high-intensity player.
If the signings are done before the start of the pre-season, it would be great for Jurgen Klopp. This would help him to integrate the new players in a slightly better way compared to when someone arrives late in the window.
