Premier League champions Liverpool get ready to host second-placed Arsenal on Sunday evening in an inconsequential league clash.

The Reds were already crowned the PL champions last month when they demolished Tottenham Hotspur in front of the Anfield crowd.

However, to everyone’s surprise, the Merseysiders faced a loss the next week against Chelsea who defeated the champions 3-1.

Although the remaining games are inconsequential for LFC, the fans would love to see the Merseyside boys win the rest of their remaining games.

After 35 games played so far, Arne Slot & Co. have won 25 games, drew seven and lost only three, accumulating 82 points in the process.

With their next clash against Arsenal, Liverpool will try to redeem their form and also maintain their winning status.

Mikel Arteta expressed his willingness to give the LFC team a guard of honour by saying,

“They deserve that. They have been the best team, they have been the most consistent. What Arne and the coaching staff have done has been fascinating, it has been really good and they fully deserve it. That is sport, when somebody is better you have to applaud and accept and try to reach that level.”

Liverpool vs. Arsenal predicted lineup, team news

Liverpool

Liverpool have already started planning for life beyond the outbound fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold as Slot confirmed young Conor Bradley will be featured this Sunday.

Slot, speaking about the prospect of starting the Northern Irish right-back against the Gunners, said,

“Team selection is as it’s been last week, it’s going to be the same thought process that goes through my mind for the Sunday game… If Conor would have been available for Chelsea he would have started already against Chelsea. But he wasn’t. So there’s a fair chance that he will start on Sunday.”

Apart from the injuries of Joe Gomez and Tylor Morton, the Dutch manager has no other injuries to worry about.

However, on a much more positive note, the England international returned to training on Friday, and according to Slot, he’ll be returning to action by the end of the season.

Liverpool Predicted Lineup:

Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz.

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta on the other hand has been dealt a rather dull hand as Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Magalhaes, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kai Havertz still remain unfit.

Speaking about Ethan Nwaneri’s reduced game time, the Gunners boss said,

“There are moments and players are used more and less. And he has played a lot. He has played probably more than anybody expected for sure. In the last few games, because of the games and the context, we decided not to play him that much. It can change very quickly.”

Arsenal Predicted Lineup:

Raya; White, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Saka, Merino, Martinelli.

Liverpool vs. Arsenal prediction

The Reds will be jumping into this fixture after and they are going into this as the favourites to win it.

In the reverse fixture back in October, the Merseyside giants endured a 2-2 draw at the Emirates.

Both teams will be heading into this game after returning from an away defeat. While Liverpool’s loss was insignificant, Arsenal losing to PSG resulted in a Champions League exit.

Still, LFC are safely expected to win the clash and blow another punch to Arsenal this season.

Prediction: Liverpool 2 – 1 Arsenal.
