Ben Doak could set a new Liverpool record when the Reds lock horns with Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves) in the third round of the FA Cup at Anfield today.

Doak set to create a new record against Wolves

A goal from Ben Doak will make him Liverpool’s youngest FA Cup scorer at the age of 17 years and 57 days.

The Scottish youngster debuted for the Reds at the age of 16 against Derby Country in the third round of the EFL Cup at Anfield.

The fixture could be historical as other records could follow.

Trent Alexander-Arnold could make his 250th appearance for the Merseyside giants in all competitions. James Milner could be the Reds’ oldest-ever goal scorer in the FA Cup at the age of 37 years and three days, beating Billy Liddell’s record of 36 years and 15 days set in 1958.

Meanwhile, Caoimhin Kelleher made his League debut for the club against Wolverhampton Wanderers in December 2020, keeping a clean sheet in the 4-0 win. The Irishman could feature today as Klopp might rest Alisson.

Elsewhere, Curtis Jones played his first game under the German coach in an FA Cup defeat at Molineux in 2019.

Past clashes

The Merseyside giants and The Wanderers will meet for the third time in the FA Cup in the last six years. Wolves have won both defeating LFC at Anfield in 2017 and two years later at Molineux.

The team that lost the last cup encounter four years ago only six of them now remains at Anfield. Fabinho, Milner, Naby Keita, and Jones started the game. While Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino had maid their brief intro as the substitutes.

The English giants have won 11 of the last 13 meetings between the teams in all competitions. The only two defeats came in the FA Cup.

The Reds didn’t have the best start of the season but are looking to defend their FA Cup title this time.
