After the bitter 1-0 defeat in the first leg of the semi-final of Carabao Cup against London side Tottenham Hotspurs on Wednesday, the Reds returned to winning ways on Saturday.

The Merseyside giants defeated League Two side Accrington Stanley in the third round of the FA Cup. Hosting the game at Anfield, LFC scored four goals and conceded none.

Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jayden Danns and Federico Chiesa were the scorers for the Anfield side and the Italian forward scored his maiden goal for the club.

However, there was another player in particular who caught everyone’s attention.

The prodigal son of LFC started the weekend clash as the skipper of the side in the absence of usual captain Virgil van Dijk as Arne Slot gave rest to most of the senior players.

Alexander-Arnold played for 60 minutes before being subbed off by youngster Conor Bradley. However, by then, half of the demolition was already done as the Lancashire side trailed by two goals.

During his time on the pitch, the English fullback won 100% of his three duels, won possession four times, put in three tackles and two blocks and wasn’t dribbled past once.

On the attacking front, the 26-year-old scored a screamer from outside of the box, took 93 touches in total and three inside the opposition box, put forth four accurate long balls and three crosses, created three chances and two shots on target (stats via Squawka).

With this goal, the England international now has two goals in his last three starts across all competitions.

Also, 16 of his 21 goals for Liverpool have come from outside the box, the highest percentage of any other player for the club in the Premier League era with at least five goals (76%).

Although there have been concerns regarding his stay at the Merseyside club after this season ends, he once again proved his quality and underlined his importance in this Liverpool team.

The LFC officials must make arrangements to make Trent stay at Anfield anyhow.
