Liverpool star clears the air on €100m club takeover

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been at the heart of some wild rumours lately. Reports had suggested that Liverpool’s Trent was leading a €100m bid to buy French club Nantes, but the truth has now been revealed – and it’s as clear as his pinpoint crosses.

No French connection for Trent to buy Nantes

Speculation from French media claimed that Trent, along with his father, was fronting a consortium to buy Ligue 1 side Nantes.

The supposed offer included an €80m cash payment with a sweetener of €20m in bonuses. On top of that, whispers surfaced about Trent having eyes on other French clubs like Saint-Etienne and Le Havre.

However, Liverpool fans can breathe easy, as the rumours have been thoroughly debunked. According to sources close to the player, the takeover talk is “not true at all,” as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

It seems Trent’s only concern right now is whipping in those delicious crosses, not whipping out his wallet to buy football clubs.

Nantes future still up in the air

While Trent may not be swapping his boots for a boardroom seat, Nantes could still see new ownership soon.

The club’s president, Waldemar Kita, has previously stated that he’s open to selling the club if the right offer comes along.

But don’t expect any quick moves. Kita expressed scepticism over a previous bid from ex-Nantes goalkeeper Mickael Landreau, stating that such deals need to be serious and not played out in the media.

For now, though, it’s business as usual for Nantes. They sit fifth in Ligue 1 after a solid start and are prepping for their upcoming clash with Angers.

As for Trent, the spotlight remains on his future at Liverpool. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and clubs like Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing him for a potential swoop next summer.

But for now, Liverpool fans can rest assured: Trent isn’t about to trade in Anfield for a French adventure just yet.
