Transfer Shocker: Zubimendi snubs Liverpool for his dream move
Martin Zubimendi a target chased by Liverpool has now revealed his preference after the Reds re-initiate the transfer pursuit, prefers La Liga giants Real Madrid.
After his impressive performances at the Euro’s Martin Zubimendi has attracted a lot of interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.
It was manager Mikel Arteta’s intention to bring Zubimendi to the Emirates as a number six and Arsenal recently signed Mikel Merino his former Real Sociedad teammate as their new number eight.
Zubimendi prefers Madrid over Liverpool as transfer talks begin
Despite their best efforts, Liverpool were ultimately unsuccessful in obtaining the Spanish midfield player this summer.
Despite this the 25-year-old is still a target for both Arsenal and Liverpool, with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City keeping an eye on him.
Real Madrid who see Zubimendi as a long-term replacement for Luka Modric are reportedly Zubimendi’s preferred destination.
Though Arsenal and Liverpool feel it was a major factor in Zubimendi’s decision to remain at Real Sociedad for the time being, as his preference for Madrid has not deterred them.
Arsenal in particular was willing to sign the Spaniard this summer because they see him as a possible replacement for Thomas Partey, whose performance has deteriorated.
Both clubs have their sights set on Zubimendi due to his skill and value but, its unclear which will be able to convince him to move from La Liga to the Premier League.
Real Madrid continues to be his most likely destination for the time being.
