Romano Vitinha

Despite numerous rumors to the contrary, Fabrizio Romano has stated that Liverpool were not interested in PSG midfielder Vitinha this summer.

Romano addresses the rumored Vitinha-Liverpool connection

According to Romano, the Reds’ primary transfer targets from last summer were Jude Bellingham or Aurelien Tchouameni. He also notes that PSG appeared to be the front-runner to capture Vitinha, who came from Porto.

The brilliant 22-year-old, who has been identified as a priority target by the club’s recruiting head Luis Campos, who is renowned for his ability to uncover the greatest young players in the world, appears to be a superb addition to the Ligue 1 giants.

Some Liverpool supporters might be considering if their team would have been better off competing for Vitinha right now. However, Romano says that they only had their two top objectives in mind.

What Romano believes

Romano:

“From what I’m told, Liverpool were never in talks to sign Vitinha. It was always PSG as Luis Campos wanted him as priority target.”

Although Bellingham is currently still playing for Borussia Dortmund, Tchouameni, who made an impression at Monaco before joining Real Madrid, will undoubtedly be one of the biggest transfer stories of the next summer.

Liverpool never truly found a clear replacement for Philippe Coutinho after transferring the Brazilian to Barcelona in January 2018.

Since then, Liverpool’s major creators have been Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson. They have given the Reds their offensive threat from the full-back position.

The two, however, haven’t played at their peak level for Liverpool in 2022–2023. And other players will need to step up and contribute some originality.

This season, Jurgen Klopp has occasionally utilized a 4-2-3-1 style. However, his team lacks an offensive midfielder of calibers like Kevin De Bruyne, Martin Odegaard, or Bruno Fernandes. In the coming transfer window, the Scousers have their eyes on certain talents. And as far as Klopp’s judgment goes, all the Reds believe these talents will be a perfect fit for the squad.
